At Waterdog Canoes, our story began not in a workshop, but on the winding paths of the Appalachian Trail. Unwilling to return to a desk job, our founder combined a passion for woodworking, paddling, adventure, and community. We saw a gap in the market: beautiful, bespoke canoes were either hard to find or came with prohibitive price tags. Waterdog Canoes was founded in Wellington, Kentucky, to bridge this gap, making personalized, high-quality canoes accessible to everyone who dreams of the water.

Each canoe begins with a strong shell of epoxy and fiberglass overlaying okoume wood. For the decks, yoke, thwart(s), and seat frames, we select from exquisite hardwoods like cherry, black walnut, oak, chestnut oak, maple, and ash, depending on availability. This combination ensures durability, performance, and breathtaking aesthetics that stand the test of time.
